What we collect and why
Visitors to our website
We collect your IP address (de-identified during your session), device type and screen size, browser information, approximate geographic location (country and city), and preferred language.
- Data Status: This data is aggregated and de-identified so that individual visitors cannot be reasonably identified by us.
- Legal basis: Legitimate interests - understanding site traffic and usage to improve our service.
- Retention: Until no longer useful (e.g. website restructure).
- Processed via: Google Analytics, Hotjar.
Contact and demo request forms
We collect your name, institution, email address, and the content of your subject and message fields (which may include your role and subject area).
- Legal basis: Legitimate interests - to respond to pre-sales queries and record exchanges with existing and potential customers. We do not use this information beyond responding to your query.
- Retention: Until you request removal or the data is no longer needed.
- Processed via: Webflow, Google Workspace, Zoho CRM, Zapier. (If you opt-in to marketing, also Mailchimp).
Email newsletters and Teaching Innovation Awards information
If you opt in, we collect your name, institution, email address, and any information you provide in text fields.
- Legal basis: Consent. You can withdraw at any time by unsubscribing or emailing info@learnsci.com
- Retention: Until you unsubscribe, request removal, or the data is no longer needed.
- Processed via: Webflow, Zoho CRM, Mailchimp, Zapier.
Marketing prospects identified from public institutional directories
Where the contact’s local laws allow it, we may identify potential academic contacts from public university staff directories. We may collect your name, job title, department, institutional email, and the URL of the source page.
- AI Safeguard: We use AI-assisted tooling (Google Workspace/Gemini) to help identify relevance. This processing occurs within a private environment; your data is not used by Google to train their public AI models. All results are manually vetted before contact, and irrelevant records are deleted.
- Legal basis: Legitimate interests - to reach academic and technical staff in pedagogical and teaching lab roles who may benefit from LearnSci's products. We have completed a Legitimate Interests Assessment.
- Retention: While the legitimate interest remains live. Reviewed annually; contacts with no meaningful engagement over the preceding 24 months are re-qualified or deleted. Opt-outs are actioned immediately and suppressed indefinitely.
- Processed via: Google Workspace, Zoho CRM, Mailchimp.
- Your right to object: You can object at any time by clicking the opt-out link in any email, replying to the email, or contacting info@learnsci.com. We will stop processing your data for this purpose on receipt.
What we will and will not do
- Disclosure: We will only disclose your personal information to other organisations if required by law, to investigate or prevent unlawful activity, to defend our legal rights, or to prospective buyers or sellers of company assets.
- Selling Data: We will not sell your personal information, or share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
- Automation: We will not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling.
- Security: We take reasonable precautions to protect your personal information. However, data transmission over the internet is inherently insecure and we cannot guarantee the security of data sent to us this way.
Cookies
This site uses cookies; small text files stored on your device that allow the site to remember your preferences between visits. Because our website does not currently feature an automated cookie management tool, you must disable or delete cookies through your browser settings if you wish to prevent their use. Note that this may affect site functionality.
