Titration

Redox titration

No items found.

Explore the differences between redox and acid-base titrations. Practise interpreting titration curves, calculating unknown concentrations and deciding the most appropriate redox indicator. Apply these skills to two scenarios in which the concentrations of hydrogen peroxide in hair bleach and vitamin C in orange juice are determined.

Learning outcomes

  • Identify the most appropriate type of titration and indicator for a given reaction.
  • Determine the stoichiometry of reagents in a titration.
  • Interpret data from a titration curve.
  • Calculate concentrations using redox titration.

Rather than walking into a workshop not knowing what students understood and did not understand, there was already very good information available to the tutor to identify where the students were struggling to understand the basic and more advanced concepts. This information allowed the tutors to tailor workshops much better and to focus on questions and key learning points that seemed to be an issue.
