A little bit about me

My name is Ilyssa and I am a Biological Sciences student at the University of the West of England.

How did I learn about LearnSci?

I learned about LearnSci at the Science Futures Fair at my university. I was impressed by their stall, where they displayed the LabSims and Smart Worksheets products, as well as their branding. I was interested in working at LearnSci, so I introduced myself and showed the team my portfolio, which included science illustrations and graphics I had created during my time at the university.

What did I achieve during my internship?

During my internship, I primarily worked with the communications team, creating visual assets for LearnSci's social media and marketing. It was a chance to focus on my illustration skills, which I don't often get to do during my Biological Sciences coursework. Throughout my internship, I created infographics, illustrations, and posts for LinkedIn and Twitter. Additionally, I contributed to designing LearnSci merchandise that will be used at future conferences.

What was it like working alongside the LearnSci team?

Working with the LearnSci team was a privilege. I collaborated with the communications team, who were supportive and provided guidance whenever I needed it. As I worked both remotely and in the office, I had the opportunity to meet and learn from different people, gaining insight into the various roles at LearnSci. I am very fortunate to have worked at LearnSci as it made my internship very enjoyable. I am grateful to have worked with the communications team, who took the time to mentor and inspire me.
