Alongside an expansion to the Smart Worksheet Library rolling out in August 2026, our team has been working hard to improve existing Smart Worksheets. We’re committed to the continual improvement of our products, listening to academics and students alike and ensuring that each resource aligns with what our partners are looking for.

Our approach to refining the Smart Worksheet Library relies on three core inputs: direct feedback from our academic partners, performance data from our Analytics platform, and direct student feedback gathered via embedded micro-surveys.

The latest update includes a number of improvements to both Smart Worksheets and Analytics - read on to find out the details.

Smart Worksheet improvements

Introducing micro-surveys

We’ve integrated short surveys into all Smart Worksheet Library sheets. Each features a small number of questions that measure challenge and enjoyment of the activity, creating a direct feedback loop to identify friction points and areas of success. This data is enlightening and has informed a number of the following updates!

Analytics-driven question adjustments

After reviewing performance across every Smart Worksheet, we’ve reviewed questions with consistently low performance and applied bespoke fixes across the Library. Depending on the context and content of each question, this includes tweaks such as increased scaffolding, enhanced context, and re-balanced grading.

Feedback improvements

Across dozens of Smart Worksheets, we’ve increased the coverage of personalised feedback on specific common errors.

Bug fixes

All isolated bug reports from academics and students over the past XX months have been resolved e.g. misaligned images and unfair cell locking.

Terminology standardisation

Key terms, abbreviations and definitions have been standardised across every Smart Worksheet.

Accessibility improvements

We’ve added subheadings to improve navigation for students using screen readers, and we’ve improved alt-text for images.

Grading alignment

We’ve ensured that higher-stakes questions’ points better reflect their difficulty by adjusting question point values.

Additional major content updates

  • The ‘ECG Fundamentals’ Smart Worksheet has been reworked to clarify terminology, and we’ve added some extra knowledge-check questions.
  • Both BLAST Smart Worksheets have been updated to reflect changes on the external BLAST website. We’ve also built an automated alert system so that any future changes are caught more easily to ensure the sheets remain up to date with the latest information.

Analytics improvements

Actionable student sentiment and feedback

Embedded micro-survey data is now integrated directly into performance dashboards, allowing you to see how challenging and enjoyable students found each Smart Worksheet, alongside their actual results.

Tailored course filtering and self-serve exports

You can now filter analytics by your specific courses or quizzes, and easily download underlying datasets.

Accurate impact metrics and clean data

We’ve refined data labelling to increase clarity in interpretation, and introduced key metrics such as estimated time saved in grading, giving you reliable, high-value insights at a glance.

We’re committed to continually improving the Smart Worksheet Library and LearnSci Analytics. If there are any improvements you would like, please let us know by emailing support@learnsci.com.
